In a busy village in the outskirts of London, a drunk beggar named Christopher Sly is seen being ejected from a messed up bar by its hostess. A wealthy lord arrives and finds him in a drunken stupor, deciding to play a joke on him. While Sly is asleep, the wealthy man dresses up Sly as if he were a lord himself.
